It has been openly announced by Jack Tretton, SCEA President and CEO of its newest innovation and how it can greatly benefit a wide array of diverse audience and gamers.Many surely are excited having this especially Sony PlayStation fanatics and followers.
I myself is one of the fraction of the population who so wants to take this home. But on the other hand, we as consumers might as well be intelligent buyers and whether to buy such or not. This is to consider that there had been various predecessors released years ago offering the same gaming entertainment experience.Allow me to stress the different advantages and disadvantages alongside the newest Sony PlayStation3.
Advantages:
• New Look. This is what perhaps sets the newest PS3 higher because of its compact look. This is 33% smaller with a 290 x 65 x 290 mm dimensions and 36% lighter weighing only 3.2kg compared to its predecessor thus making this slimmer and lighter. There is also a change in the official all caps PLAYSTATION 3 name to PlayStation 3. • Affordable price. The PlayStation 3 Slim will retail on the market on September 1st $299. This has equalled PS3 80GB price which was also $299. Among the two the PS3 Slim is indeed a worthy choice because of its compact 120GB built-in hard drive. This retail price has eventually dropped off the other PS3’s model $299 and $399 for 80GB and 160GB respectively.
• Energy saver. The PS3 slim because of its smaller and lighter built thus making less power usage. Its new cell which is smaller is colder making it more power efficient consuming 34% less power than its previous models. Much more it runs quieter and has an automatic standby functionality found on the front compartment of the unit.
Disadvantages:
• No Linux operating system. This is perhaps the greatest drawback of the said unit. While its previous models allow OS installation, this eventually doesn’t. This is perhaps a sad note to those geeky players and users who would to personally modify and enhance the system.
• Similar features. If you are hoping for new features with this newest released model, then you are definitely wrong. It still is containing the same like Wi-Fi connection, Profile 2.0 Blu-ray player with BD-Live capabilities, supports MPEG video and even JPEG images and image viewing.
• No backward compatibility. If you are hooked up with your PS2 games don’t expect that this can also be carried out in PS3 slim. It would be better to stick with your current model than to buy a whole new game set for this. Much more it has no IR port and former extras like built-in memory card and even extra USB ports.There are a lot of specifications and features that you must weigh the odds before purchasing this newest PlayStation 3.
