PS3 Slimline: Thinner and Better

Sony had been one among many companies who had been exemplary in the field of creating innovative entertainment mediums. One of their major work and invention is their creation of their PlayStation. To date, there have been many models circulating the market. And just recently they had released their newest console namely the PS3 Slim.

The new PS3 slim is really a drastic change from its previous predecessor. Many had noticed the slim and light finish on this gaming console. True to its name and nature, the PS3 Slim is indeed slimmer compared to the previous ones. It measures 2.5 inches wide whereas the other PS3 measures 3.86 inches. It is also indeed lighter as evident by the 7 pounds weight compared to the 12 pounds. Furthermore, it is shorter by just a smidge if we will compare it to its other siblings. Thus concluding that it is 33% smaller and 36% lighter.

• Performance. In achieving a smaller size of the new Sony PS3 Slim, the internal architecture of the said gaming console was also altered and redesigned. The new PS3 Slim is powered by a 45nm version of a cell processor which in turn runs the same as the 60nm processor in the previous PS3’s. The advantage of having this is it is smaller and energy efficient. With that said, the total energy consumption of the said gadget had dropped to 250 watts compared to the former 280 watts.

• Cooling system. With the slimmer version also comes the fainter noise one. Aside from the new heat system also comes a new down cooling fan. This paves way to a quieter hum with regards to the unit. Thus, this will not burst loud noises every time you watch a movie even if you sit just beside it. In addition the blu-ray disc even if subjected to an hour or so emits warm air but not the usual hot atmosphere.It is quite evident that the new PS3 Slim is indeed slimmer as the name implies. On the other hand, it is also great in terms of performance. You can not only save in terms of space where you will reside the console but also energy and electricity as a whole.
