REVIEW- “Yo Quiero iPhone”

Just when I thought I had seen an app for just about everything, I ran into this app and several of those like it. This app will actually help to teach you Spanish on your iPhone! This is basically a trial version of the full app that is a comprehensive tool to help you learn, or improve your Spanish.

Spanish Tutor is surprisingly easy to use and fun. When you open up this free version you have five categories to choose from. Once you have chosen a category you are given a “study list” button at the top where you can go to view all of the phrases that are going to be used in the current category. Not only can you view the phrases, with their English equivalents, but you can also hear every one of them by touching them.

Once you feel you are ready to be tested you then select one of 4 different kinds of tests: multiple choice, puzzle, write in, and flash card. The great thing about the tests is not only do they track your score, but they keep track of the words and phrases that you are struggling with. At the bottom of the screen where you select the kind of test that you want to take is the “priority” button. When you touch it, it will take you to a screen where you can turn on “Priority Mode” which will basically make the words and phrases that you struggle with more likely to come up in the various exercises.

If you are interested in learning Spanish, or if you just want to sharpen up what you already know, I would highly recommend that you give this program a try. Pretty much any curriculum that you get to learn Spanish is going to cost you more than the $7.99 that the full program costs. And the plus side is that with this app, you get to try a basically full version of it for free!
